Carving with Kindness: How Art Can Inspire Change

“Carving with kindness” isn’t just a tagline. It’s a way of approaching everything we do.

The Power of Art in Community

When I carve at a public event, something magical happens. Strangers start talking to each other. Kids forget their phones. Families gather around and watch sawdust fly. For a few moments, everyone shares a common experience of wonder.

That’s the power of art. It brings people together.

Why Kindness Matters in Business

In a world of hustle culture and cutthroat competition, I’ve found that kindness is actually the most effective business strategy. When you genuinely want to help someone — whether it’s a client, a fellow carver, or a kid who’s curious about woodworking — good things follow.

Trajectory and Giving Back

That’s why Stumptown Carving has been involved with Trajectory NW since its inception. This forestry education non-profit does incredible work connecting young people with our forests. A portion of every commission supports their mission.

Because kindness isn’t an expense. It’s an investment in the world we want to live in.
